Data Protection

The Prime Minister's Office is the owner and holder of the rights of the International Gender Equality Prize. The Prime Minister's Office appoints the prize jury. The prize jury proposes a candidate for the prize, and the Government decides on the final nomination, based on the jury’s proposal.

The list of the candidates’ personal data serves as the basis for selecting the recipient of the prize. Proposals are collected from all around the world, using an electronic form accessible at www.genderequalityprize.fi.

We process the personal data related to the Gender Equality Prize in accordance with Article 6, paragraph 1, point (e) of the General Data Protection Regulation. The processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

The Government decided on the establishment of the International Gender Equality Prize on 21 June 2017, to commemorate Finland’s 100th anniversary of independence.

The data stored

Name, contact information (postal address, phone number, email addresses)

Disclosure of data

Personal data is transferred to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area, if the members of the prize jury reside in such countries.

Period for which the personal data is stored

The data stored in the register is used as background material for the Government’s decision. The data is stored and removed in accordance with the principles laid down for Government decision-making.
